Stumpy with the Godfather of Soul himself,
Mr. James Bown!
"And the music they make is dirty and fun. It slinks out of your speakers, slithers around the room, sidles up next to you and, when you least expect it, seduces you." - Dave Terpeny (www.kyndmusic.com) HERBAL NATIONCombine serious funk jams with a healthy hit of pro-hemp awareness and you have Herbal Nation. The group, founded in 1995 by drummer/producer 'Stumpy', is made up of killer players: 'Sleepa' on guitar and vocals, 'Stoo Lee', 'Fine' Art Manchester, and Jeff '9th Wonder' Watkins on sax, 'Lydia' on vocals, 'Sweet' Willie Myette on keyboards, 'T-Black' on keyboards and vocals, 'Sir' Thomas Brinkley, 'Jack Fury', and Frank 'Frankie Thumbs' Wilson on bass and Jaz 'Nix'-on on percussion and vocals. Herbal Nation celebrated the release of its first full length studio cd "herbal nation", on 421records in November by headlining two nights at the 2004 High Times Cannabis Cup in Amsterdam. The cd features special guest performances by Jeff Watkins, saxophonist for the Godfather of Soul himself, Mr. James Brown, and has 3 new versions of their anthem 'We Love the Herb', which was featured in the December 2004 issue of High Times Magazine.
Live at Bill's Bar, Boston MA. Video clips open in a new window and require the Windows Media Player. A special "Super Funk New Year's Eve Party" was held with Herbal Nation joined by guest saxophonist from James Brown's 'Soul Generals,' Jeff Watkins, opening for the 18 piece George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic. The all-night funk-fest was held in Ft. Lauderdale, FL at the club 'Revolution.' Check out the images and video from from this amazing evening!
